John Nixon is the founder and principal consultant of Asperta, an independent consulting firm focused on improving the quality of property insurance underwriting decisions by policy holders, agents and brokers, underwriters, reinsurers, and investors.

He has more than 20 years experience in property insurance, including North American and international HPR underwriting; primary, E&S, and reinsurance CAT underwriting; and home office product line management, oversight, and auditing.

Prior to establishing Asperta, John was the business leader for Marshall & Swift / Boeckh’s Commercial Solutions Group,
which provides building replacement cost data to over 90% of the
North American property insurance market.

John holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Northwestern University and a Masters in Business Administration from Cleveland State University.

John has been a guest speaker at industry events for AGRIP/PRIMA, CAI, CPCU, IMUA, LMA, and RAA as well as in-house sessions for S&P and AM Best on topics related to property underwriting practices and strategies for identifying and improving the quality of exposure data being used in catastrophe modeling and other underwriting decisions.
